Oh, the carefree times of our childhood! How many people would like to revisit those good ole’ days? Mine was filled with fun games like “Red Light/Green Light”, “Ghost in the Graveyard”, “Kick the Can”, Hopscotch, DodgeBall and the neighborhood kickball game, among others.
As master storyteller, Tom Robbins wrote, "It's never too late to have a happy childhood”…What does that mean? As we grow into adulthood we often forget how to play. Somewhere along the way we start taking life really seriously and stop playing. That’s a big mistake. A well-balanced adult can benefit from incorporating play back into their lives. Living your “best” life means that you have learned the delicate balance between your professional and personal life. You’ve learned how to dance the dance. Wellness and life coaches all harp about the importance of exercise and balance. Playing also helps you to relax and can enhance your creativity.
So, play along with me…What cartoon character is your favorite? If you asked your friends, which cartoon character do you most remind them of what would they say…and why? Which character do you wish they would select? My husband answered the above question for me stating that I reminded him of Lucy from the Peanuts cartoon in terms of always doling out advice. I once worked with a guy who used Underdog as his identity…”There’s no need to fear…Underdog is here”. The nature of this his personality reminded others of Underdog. In fact, he actually started to really resemble him in action and deed.
