Friends are such a blessing in life! True friendship helps us feel supported as we navigate our journey of life. Today is my father’s 1st birthday that he will celebrate in heaven. He was such a good man and I can feel him looking down on me and my siblings and guiding us as we continue on earth.
When my father died one of my dear friends, Dr. Vivian Carrasco, dedicated her daily podcast to me.
I wanted to share it with you so you may listen to it at the following link: https://db.tt/M64wKz0R. Vivian is a professionally trained “yogi” and has a business where she provides daily meditation and practices in an attempt to help others develop healthy routines to help enhance their daily lives. Today, on this special anniversary, I am fortunate that I can listen again to my dear friend’s words and feel close to her. It is comforting to know that she really cares about me and what happens in my life. I also try to extend the same support to all of my friends. I hope they truly know how much they have enhanced my life. So, if you are my friend and did not realize how special you are you now have it writing!
Last night, I received a text message from one of my closest friends who is dealing with her husband’s health issue. I am "paying it forward" and hope that this message brings her some gentle reminders and comfort. I have learned how quickly life can change but I seem to keep receiving that same wonderful reminder. One may think that it is negative to go through our daily lives reflecting and focusing on how “precious” life is...but I actually think it is the best gift we can receive. It is wonderful to “wake up” in life so you can be your authentic self and so your life can truly reflect what is important.
As a Career Counselor, my mission in life is to help others identify and find a meaningful and fulfilling career and life! As you proceed through your daily lives, I hope you will take the time to make those special connections with people. In my opinion, when it is all said and done, life is all about the experiences and relationships. It is not about the hustle and bustle of acquiring things. Many people realize that as they get older and then begin to try to simplify their lives so they can really appreciate it and enjoy life!
So, embrace the special people in your life and take time to enjoy the simple things in life…Be mindful. Stay in the moment and listen to the wind blow through the leaves, watch the ocean tides as they come in and go out…and just be!
