I understand. I listen to my clients and know that you do not have a lot of time to read something lengthy. So, I have summarized 5 quick tips to leading a better life. Enjoy!
Gratitude. Try starting your day with a simple statement of “thank you” for yet another day on this beautiful earth! Regardless of what is going on in your busy life try offering up thanks for having the opportunity to live this life. What will happen? You will set the tone for your entire day in a positive way.
Try it! Instead of rushing to get out of the house and on the road take a few moments to take a few deep breaths, a good stretch and offer up gratitude. Try switching up your routine. Drive a different way to work, take the time to really absorb everything that is around you. Look people directly in the eye and acknowledge them.
Perhaps you feel that you don’t have time to do the above…sure, you do! It doesn’t take any more time to adapt our routines to incorporate some small changes. This morning I am thankful for the opportunity to write you this message. Maybe somebody will give it a quick read and try it.
Breathe. Have you ever paid attention to how you really breathe? It may sound silly but most of us breathe in a very shallow fashion. As we get ever busier and more stressed we breathe even less. Try taking a series of extremely deep breaths when you are really busy or frustrated. People who love to exercise know the benefits and importance of breathing. Incorporate it into your busy schedule and reap the rewards.
Prayer or Meditation. Place your focus elsewhere and broaden your vision and perspective by incorporating prayer or meditation into your life. If you have never tried meditation it would be a great time to give it a try. You can simply google “how to meditate” to learn the basic methods. Connecting with our source is important. As humans get busy we easily lose sight of the larger perspective in life and prayer and meditation will help you connect to your source and get into a better frame of mind.
Nutrition and Exercise. Most of us love to eat but often make it an afterthought rather than a conscious choice. To help you make good choices plan your meals and snacks in advance. Treat yourself just like you might do for a child as you lay out a lunch in advance for the next day. Do the same with exercise. Plan to take a 30 minute walk every other day. If you do not already exercise, start by taking the longer walk to your office or building. Park further away or do laps in between your work projects during the day. Get up and move around, stretch and breathe all day.
Stay in the moment & Live . Be intentional about your life. Learn how to live your life on purpose. What do I mean by that? Stay in the moment and do not always focus or worry about what is next. Incorporate what is important to you into your life every day. Make it a priority to connect with people that you want to have in your life. Focus on ideas and projects that you want to do. Be selective with how you use your time. Yes, you still have a job to do but be sure that you are taking time to live your best life each day!
