Good morning friends! It doesn’t take much to really get inspired in the morning. This morning while I was enjoying my first cup of coffee, I was visited by a gentle doe who walked right by me on the deck. It glanced up, locked eyes with me and then calmly wandered into the woods. Always being prepared with a camera nearby, I quickly snapped a photo as it leaped further into the brush…and that’s all it took. My morning inspiration! A visit from one of God’s creatures launches yet another great day! Of course, another little creature (pictured below) would also like to be recognized for his contributions and involvement in my business!
I want to thank all of you who are following and supporting the launch of my new coaching business. I received several calls and messages yesterday from dear friends and supporters. I interacted with some fellow entrepreneurs regarding some possible projects and am looking forward to some great collaboration. I also already received some inquiries from potential clients. I want you to know how much of a difference it makes. In the interim period of my transition from the university to the world of entrepreneurship, I took several special trips with friends. It is amazing what friendship does in our lives…A good friendship smooths over the difficult parts of our lives and encourages us to be the best we can be!
First, I journeyed with my best friend from high school down to the beach with her group of co-workers. What a delightful, fun, energetic group they turned out to be. Of course, they were sales people and I have always thrived in the company of such a group. It was fun to spend time with them and I appreciate the way they automatically welcomed me into their home. Thanks again for such a fun time and for being so gracious! In return, you will notice that I did not post our group picture as I typically do not do so without permission but I enjoyed meeting each one of you!
Next, I took a trip with my husband to spend time at the beach house of a dear, dear friend. This friend was recently diagnosed with a tumor and wanted all his best friends to join him at his beach house prior to the start of his treatment. He is actually “bigger than life” to most of his friends. He owns several companies and inspires and cares for all his employees…who are really more like family to him! He is an amazing man with a huge personality and contagious smile! And, when he wanted a little support, all of his employees, co-workers, friends and family were quick to be at his side. What a special time we had as an impromptu water balloon fight broke out and raucous laughter erupted in the house as his young son chased after a couple who threw water balloons back at his feet.
My point today is how important it is to have these relationships in our lives. I think the world of work has conditioned us to be so serious and professional that often we miss the importance of building relationships with the people we interact with at work. I can tell you that every time I have left a job that it is really the people that I miss. Sure sometimes I miss the role or nature of the work…but it really is all about the people.
So, continue to support and inspire one another. Work together on projects and recognize the value that the partnership and teamwork really brings to an office. As a former supervisor of a team, I will miss you all and hope you can still feel the support that I hope I brought to the office and your lives.
